05 — AI Vision
Where I see this field going
AI is crossing from systems that answer to systems that reason and act — and the decisive advantage of this era won’t belong to whoever owns the largest model, but to whoever can feed it data worth trusting and govern what it does with that data.
The frontier is moving on several fronts at once. Reasoning models now spend real compute thinking — planning, simulating, and self-correcting before they answer. Agentic systems chain those reasoning steps into autonomous, multi-step work. Models read text, image, audio, and video natively, while a spectrum running from frontier giants to small, task-specific models makes intelligence cheap enough to deploy almost anywhere.
Yet the enterprises racing to adopt all of this keep hitting the same wall — and it is not the model. It is whether the data feeding the system can be trusted, and whether the organization can prove who changed what, when, and why. Governance, not model quality, has become the binding constraint on scale: only a fraction of organizations can yet govern autonomous agents safely, and most initiatives stall on data and accountability long before they stall on capability.
This is the work I do. As governments and regulated sectors move to run AI on their own terms — sovereign over their data, models, and infrastructure — the rare and valuable skill is building the foundation beneath it: data that is governed, machine-ready, and accountable, so intelligent systems can be trusted to act. The strongest models are becoming a commodity; the discipline to deploy them safely is not.
